I've been musing on this for a while and I just want to know..... Why are so many lefty "Feminists" soooooo danged tolerant of "Conservative" Muslim men and so virulently hateful toward "Conservatives" in the West?
There is something going on in that dynamic that completely boggles the mind.
Don't get me wrong. It's not that I am offended for my own sake. I don't consider myself to be a "Conservative." I am, socially, about as Liberal as they come. Fiscally... I do believe in helping the downtrodden. Even if it means I have to pay higher taxes. But....
The irrationality of arguing that the West should cozy up with, and bestow blessings upon, a culture that practices femicide and honorcide flies in the face of Feminist logic. It is like saying.... "let's just hold hands and be friends with American radical/ fundamentalist Christians who think women should stay home and serve their husbands... until they see the light." (Like, you know... how Mr. Superfeminist President Man did at his inauguration??)
This kind of tolerance, on the part of Feminists, is counterproductive. And the propensity of many to extend their "acceptance" to Conservatives in the middle east, but not to Conservatives on home soil is beyond irrational.

I don't understand the "feminist" movement either, and I go way back to the 60's and Helen Gurley Brown's Cosmo-girl era. I was married by the time bra-burners came along and at that time, made me feel guilty for being a stay at home mom.
ReplyDeleteNever could understand their rage against Sarah, who should be St. Sarah of the Women's Movement......isn't she doing it all, and doing it well ? My beef is with NOW, who stabbed Hillary in the back and endorsed Obama, WTF? Not only was Hill a woman, she was more qualified and experienced !
Not sure about labels, but I'm definitely not an Obama liberal :) C4P and HillBuzz have extended olive branches to each other, and that's how it should work ! They'll be working on a series of Hillary-Sarah ideology similarities and differences.
"American Radical Christians" is a new term for me. I am 62 years old, a Christian, and a woman. No where in the Bible does this attitude of servitude to men take place. The "submission" that is referred to is spiritual. And that means that "the buck stops here" as far as men having the final responsibility for the spiritual health of his family. Christian women are allowed to persue education, work at a job they are interested in as much as they are allowed to stay home. So, where this idea of "American Radical Christians" came from is beyond me. I'd lay down my life for my beliefs but that doesn't mean I have to act stupid in the meantime. Thanks for giving me an educational boost. :)

Lonni,
ReplyDeleteThe point is ... the same women who stand in line to defend the rights of Muslim men to practice what's in the Koran.. seem to have a genuine hatred of Western Conservative Christians.
The position is inconsistent and irrational.
Personally, I do not believe either religion has a place in American politics. I prefer separation of Church and State. As did the founders of our Democracy.
