"Just Tell Them...

I have worked 40 years to make the Women's Suffrage platform broad enough for Atheists and Agnostics to stand upon, and now if need be I will fight the next 40 to keep it Catholic enough to permit the straightest Orthodox religionist to speak or pray and count her beads upon."

She Says it So Much Better than I Could (About Obama's Kagan Appointment)

You're welcome, Syd. It just so happened I felt strongly enough to write about it. I haven't been feeling much of that lately, but I was just grossed out by the pile on.

When I saw Jane Hamsher parrot Greenwald, I about saw red. She is such a tool. It just sucks that the only person of the left's access bloggers willing to challenge Obama is only doing so so she can get ahead of the curve and build an even bigger and more arrogant empire. Plus, backing off of working with Grover Norquist. Her backpeddling on that in response to the blogger boyz threatening to ruin her online presence set back the cause of nonpartisanship indefinitely. She's a coward in the end. An order-taking coward who pretends to care about the "veal pen." She can't even see she's just across the barnyard in another pen.

Okay, sorry about the Hamsher rant. She's not the only one piling on Kagan, but they are attempting to Harriet Miers her. The right did that to Harriet Miers because they demonstrably hate women. The left will do this because they also hate women. They aren't even thinking that the Harriet Miers thing led to ALITO, for crying out loud. If they succeed in Miering Kagan, they'll get someone more like that, because Obama will say, "Fuck you, then."

Obama will get a bump in respect from me if he stands strong against them. Not saying I'll vote for him in 2010, but I'm impressed with what he's done for women in positions of power so far. Of course he had to since he knows he threw us under the bus first in 2008, and he has to repair that relationship if he wants to win reelection. He's also fucked us in a number of other ways, including on abortion, so he is desperate to make headway with us. I'll accept all his overtures in that regard, but it doesn't mean I'll ever vote for him. He doesn't need to know that.
