"Just Tell Them...

I have worked 40 years to make the Women's Suffrage platform broad enough for Atheists and Agnostics to stand upon, and now if need be I will fight the next 40 to keep it Catholic enough to permit the straightest Orthodox religionist to speak or pray and count her beads upon."

Hillary's 18 Million Cracks, Two Years Later: What an Awesome Night for Women Candidates!

Two years after my grave disappointment in the Democratic Party ...

I woke up this morning to excellent news from California. Love both of these women, Fiorina and Whitman. They are gutsy, self made sorts. And they have what a state like California, drowning in debt, needs. I wish them both well for the November election!

Then more good news from South Carolina! Nikki Haley withstood the smear campaign against her and triumphed big. I'll admit, I'm a little more than impressed by this daughter of Sikh immigrants. Because I support women candidates from both parties. And because I have respect for the Sikhs, who seem to have a REAL "religion of peace" (unlike a certain other one that is being paraded around as "peace loving" in Gaza, and at Ground Zero.)

Harry Reid apparently believes he will run ripshod over Sharron Angle come November. We'll just have to see about that.

Blanche Lincoln also pulled out a win in spite of the White House's meddling in her campaign. Good for her!

The big winner of the evening was Sarah Palin who backed a bevy a women winners.

"Palin had four primary endorsements in play – Carly Fiorina, Nikki Haley, Terry Branstad and Cecile Bledsoe – and three won or moved on to a runoff."

Rise, Sisters, Rise!

Good Night to be a Woman, Indeed!

  1. The Dems could be winning big, too -- if they'd field some women instead of kneecapping them. They have no one to blame for this rising tide of GOPers but themselves, and I for one am THRILLED to see all these happy celebrating women. I don't even give a crap if one of them is a tea-partier anymore. If black men can vote for an unqualified jackass because he's one of them without apology of any kind, I can damn well do the same. And Haley, Whitman, Lincoln, and Fiorina are all brilliant, admirable women. Look what voting for the woman in every instance got us -- a result that was 80% good. Four level-headed, smart people and only one doofus. I can live with that.

If the Dems -- including any handwringing Dem women -- want to piss and moan about it, well they can goddamned start putting some women candidates up, then. they know what they have to do to win -- let them start doing it.

  2. Janis,

I agree with everything you say here except... there are no doofuses among the women here. Only women who have been painted as doofuses by the manstream media.

And... believe me.... if Whitman, Fiorina, Lincoln or Haley start to get anywheres near the kind of power that Palin currently has... the man stream media will happily paint each of them the "doofus" as well.

Even better. :-) I'll happily eat my words if that 80% is actually a 95%.

No kidding on the no doofuses!

Whatever her politics, if Sharron Angle beats Harry's anti-women's-autonomy Mormon elder a$$, she'll be a freshman and he'll be out.

    Win-win!
