"Just Tell Them...

I have worked 40 years to make the Women's Suffrage platform broad enough for Atheists and Agnostics to stand upon, and now if need be I will fight the next 40 to keep it Catholic enough to permit the straightest Orthodox religionist to speak or pray and count her beads upon."

Progressives at Conference are "Fed Up" With Their Own Pick for The White House

Thanks to Tennessee Guerilla Women for keeping us apprised of the goings on at a particular Progressive Conference this week.

Apparently....

The ACLU chief is "disgusted."

Nancy Pelosi is being heckled.

And other Progressives have discovered that "Hope is Not Enough."

In fact, the "Quote of the Day" comes from Robert Borosage speaking at aforementioned conference:

"Progressives have grown ever more dissatisfied, and for good reason. Our hopes or illusions were shattered: escalation in Afghanistan, retreat on Guantanamo, no movement on worker rights or comprehensive immigration reform, dithering on 'don't ask, don't tell,' reverses on choice, delay on climate change and new energy."

Well.... wah, wah and wah ... ya damned fools. In the future you will, perhaps remember, that your lusting after golden boys with razor thin resumes HURTS US ALL!

Question of the Decade: Who Are the Social Conservatives/ Fiscal Liberals that Pushed Obama to Victory?

Cynthia Yockey raised the ugly specter a few days ago. And, frankly, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Then the beast appeared, yet again, at The Confluence.

How is it that the Democratic Party has managed to dupe so many Social Liberals with it's Socially Conservative / Fiscally Liberal dog and pony show? And is this what we PUMAs recognized, intuitively, in 2008? What made us so uneasy. What we could not quite put a finger on??

Personally, I am a Social Liberal first. Fiscally, I can go either way... depending on the issue. (That is why I liked Bill Clinton so much.) But.... I am *not* about to be led, by the Democrat Party... or anyone else... into some Socially Conservative/ Fiscally Liberal world that will damn women and gays to the same kind of hellish second classness that already exists for them in The Catholic Church, and many (dare I say Black) Southern Christian Denominations.

In fact, I broke with the Catholic Church over it's Social Conservatism. Almost 30 years ago. (I never picked a bone with their Fiscal Liberalism.)

PS. Remember THIS? Well, I tried to find a photo of Barack with his friend Donnie McClurkin to head this posting. Alas, they do not exist in Google. Strange, isn't it?

Inquiring Minds Wanna Know: WTF is Nancy Pelosi Crying About? (Plus: Docs in Wisconsin are Mad as Hell that Her President isn't Backing HR 676.)

Nancy's tears discussion...Per The Confluence.

Now look. I don't think we should be razzing any politician, male or female, about shedding a few tears. The question in this case is really *WTF are the tears about?* Folks at The Confluence are trying to figure that out.

So am I.

Meanwhile, Doctors in Wisconsin are MAD AS HELL about how the Health Care debate has been hijacked:

Got that Nancy? Docs don't wanna hear your false accusations of racism and RW hatemongering. They want you and the President to back HR676 like he said he would.

Do your jobs, in other words. And cut with the whining.

Heads of Companies that Sell Cosmetics, Copy Machines and Pastries are “More Powerful” than Clinton, Palin, Pelosi or Obama. You Betcha!

Thanks to the Progressive Examiner for calling my attention to the idiocy at Forbes.

Their 100 most powerful women ranks among the more assinine lists of 2009.

But, I think Forbes is worse than "legally retarded," as Mr. Jamaal suggests. They are now fantasizing about their unmitigated power in the post Obama, facist dictatorship they *Hoped* for.

Yes, it is going to take an unconventional pol like Sarah Palin to put an end to this brand of megalomania. And that is why Forbes has no intention of crediting her for "eviscerating the President’s health care reform plans using Facebook."

Selling sweet, empty calories to fat Americans (ala Sara Lee) is far more important ... doncha know? Heck, if Americans stay fat and dull, we'll need more of their mandated insurance and high priced pharmaceuticals.

Gotta run now. My coffee cake is ready....

The Hand That Rocks The Cradle...

rules the world, as they say.

So, let's see..... now, who is it that the American people want rocking their babies's cradles?? (Besides themselves, of course.)

Get over to US News and World Report and vote for someone competent and caring. (Hint: Not someone whose hospital was throwing the poor out on their ears while she administered it. )

I realize that many of my peers think this is a very sexist poll. It is. Because none of these women are about to be running day care centers any time soon. They are all in powerful political positions, after all. And we don't ask these kinds of questions about men. Do we?

BUT... that doesn't mean we don't have a preference! And there is nothing wrong in electing, to high office, a person whom you would trust with your children. In fact, I'd say it's high time we DO THAT!

The hand that rocks the cradle OUGHT to rule the world!

How Dare That Uppity Bitch! "Nobody Even Likes Her."

Well, now, here we go. POLITICO reports that "nobody likes Senator Gillibrand anyway."

""But many of those who know Gillibrand best — Democratic members of the state’s congressional delegation — weren’t exactly high-fiving over the pick, and not just because several wanted the job themselves.

“Nobody really likes her,” sniped one New York City-area member, speaking on condition of anonymity.
“She's smart and capable, but she's rubbed people the wrong the way,” said another.

...snip....

As Politico reported earlier this year, Gillibrand alienated some of her colleagues by trying to leap-frog up the seniority ladder in late 2008, vying to take a vacant seat on the Ways and Means Committee that had been slated for Buffalo-area Rep. Brian Higgins.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was peeved at Gillibrand over the move, but the two have reportedly mended fences — and the speaker delivered a smooch to Gillibrand during her swearing-in ceremony earlier this month.

But that wasn’t the first time Pelosi was taken aback by the 42-year-old Gillibrand’s chutzpah: In 2005, Gillibrand surprised the then-minority leader at an event in New York City by announcing she intended to take on incumbent Republican John Sweeney, a Democratic aide said.

Still, in Washington, where fear is a more valuable commodity than fondness, the former corporate lawyer has earned a fast reputation as a prolific fundraiser, raking in more than $4.6 million for her first reelection effort to the House. ""

Well ..wah, wah, wah. Fucking wah. That is all I have to say.

I hate to rub their noses in it (not really.) But, aren't these the same people who praised and rewarded "The Precious" for these same attributes? Didn't they laud him for his ability to campaign his way to the top ... leapfrogging over more qualified candidates, and being a prolific fundraiser???

Not becoming of a woman, you say?? Pffftttt!!
