"Just Tell Them...

I have worked 40 years to make the Women's Suffrage platform broad enough for Atheists and Agnostics to stand upon, and now if need be I will fight the next 40 to keep it Catholic enough to permit the straightest Orthodox religionist to speak or pray and count her beads upon."

Blue Dawgs Storm Out in Anger: "We Have Been Lied To!"

As reported at "The Hill."

"If the two sides cannot reach an agreement, the only hope for passage of the bill in the House will be to go straight to the floor, an option leaders shied away from endorsing but said was an option.

But the Blue Dogs issued dire warnings to leaders contemplating that approach.

"Waxman simply does not have votes in committee and process should not be bypassed to bring the bill straight to floor,” Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.), the lead Blue Dog negotiator, said on Friday. “We are trying to save this bill and trying to save this party.”

Melancon said there would be 40-45 “solid no” votes from the 52-strong Blue Dogs, among other problems throughout the caucus. And Melancon said there are more Democrats who will vote against the bill."

Trying to "save this party?"

Whoa. Things must be worse than we are allowed to know...

  1. It's a great time to be an Independent :) I'm really enjoying watching the Dems implode. Even Bush kept the GOP united. How's that hope and change going Obama? LOL.

  2. Good for them. I range from a liberal to moderate dem on issues, but i do not trust obama on healthcare and it's important someone hold him accountable to his promises and to the tax payers.

  3. I always held that the Blue Dogs were going to be the first line of resistance. The Republicans are sitting around with their mouths shut so they can just step up in 2010 and say, "Look what the Democrats did! Look what the Democrats did!" The Blue Dogs actually have something to lose.

Hillary made a huge mistake going to work for Little Lord Fraudleroy. She should have been the one leading the Democratic Party resistance. Instead, she's making announcements that we're giving $200 million to the Palestinians when they haven't fulfilled one single standard that she laid out as a requirement for getting the aid in the first place. Standing with the Blue Dogs now would have put her in position to lead the rebel alliance when they need her most.

This entire affair is an all aound mind fuck, and we are getting screwed.

  4. I agree, Shtuey. Hillary made a mistake.

Hill could also have led the charge for a sane and reasonable health plan... as the Senator from NY. She is tha one with the smarts and the know-how in the matter. The first candidate ever endorsed by the ANA. We (nurses) wanted her for this very reason.

Alas... our heroine is now a mere mouthpiec for the candie date that received the most contributions from big pharm and big insurance.

Whether you are talking about the middle east, or the home front ... we are essentailly screwed.

  5. Annie,

I am with you. *Trust* is a key issue for me where Obama is concerned. I simply have no faith in the man. I don't trust him to know what's right or wrong. And I certainly do not trust his judgement where my kids tonsils are concerned.

    Geesh.

  6. Denise,

I try to enjoy watching the Dems implode. I really do. But it's hard ... with so much at stake. Palestine and health care are just the tip of the iceburg.

    We are sooooo screwed.
