"Just Tell Them...

I have worked 40 years to make the Women's Suffrage platform broad enough for Atheists and Agnostics to stand upon, and now if need be I will fight the next 40 to keep it Catholic enough to permit the straightest Orthodox religionist to speak or pray and count her beads upon."

With Any Luck At All, The Fourth Wave Will be of the Anthonian/ Stantonian Variety

I was musing about Behar and Barr, dissing Sarah Palin with their anti-women, cough, "Feminist" nonsense, as reported at Bloghopenchangery this morning.

Then thinking about the good sense being promulgated at Legal Insurrection, I had this revelation.... and posted it in response to the latter:

Sarah is well on her way. She is appealing to a younger generation of conservatives. And particularly young conservative women.

That can't be a bad thing for Conservatives as a whole. Can it?

I am gonna go one step farther and say that the GOP should be bowing at the altar of John McCain for lifting Sarah from obscurity to be the new face of Conservatism. There is so much genius in that ... I can't really cover it all here. Except to say ...

Liberals have lost their way where feminism is concerned. Sarah has arrived on the scene at a time when she is sorely needed for the next generation of young women. Just as the Third Wave of Feminism has crashed upon the shore with an epic FAIL, by trying to embrace too much "diversity" and "cultural relativism."

The Third Wave's embrace of all things Islam is the harbinger of it's relativistic demise. (And I'll add that it's desire to make a pro-abortion stance it's central tenet ain't helping either.)

Sarah represents the return of a Susan B. Anthony/ Elizabeth Cady-Stanton style of Feminism. Call it the fourth wave if you want. But... I like to think of it as a return to the first wave.

I agree with you ... and I think the people who hate sarah a little TOO much if you know what I mean are inherently deeply misogynist.

Ditto, SYD. Ditto, Swannie. I would add that, IMO, those who so hate Sarah (those suffering from PDS-Palin Derangement Syndrome) are blinded by the age-old sexist/misogynistic bias that has said that beauty somehow precludes a woman from also being athletic, independent, savvy, smart and strong. It's the old 'dumb blonde' bias: 'Well, she's gorgeous, so how can she possibly be capable of anything requiring brains or skill?' I'm thoroughly disgusted with people -- both men and women -- who've so obviously pre-judged Sarah based on looks alone. Also, I think Sarah's calm self-assurance -- won by making and taking responsibility for her own decisions throughout her life -- truly baffles them. Women aren't supposed to be so self-assured, are they? Where's the self-conscious self-effacing self-doubt that society has so ingrained in most women, even most brilliant women? I, for one, am jubilant that the calm, self-assured, athletic, independent, smart, savvy, strong Sarah entirely missed that societal conditioning. CJK

I totally agree! Get the focus back on WOMEN, not every intersection known to the world! The women's movement should be about women, not about social work.
    From, a second waver.

  4. I like that quote, Second Waver:

"The women's movement should be about women, not about social work."

Wish I would have thunk it up myself! LOL.

Really gets to the heart of the Third Wave problem.
