David Letterman Jumps the Misogyny Shark, Promotes Rape of a Minor. TIME TO TAKE ACTION!

All over the PUMAsphere this morning, the call has gone out. Something simply MUST be done about David Letterman's misogyny.

Here is the call to action from from HILLBUZZ. With a link to Letterman's "top ten" about Sarah Palin's trip to New York. That little video is bad enough.

But NOTHING beats the one linked at The Confluence. Do people really think that raping a fourteen year old is funny? Letterman apparently does. But, I can't believe that the audience actually laughs about Willow Palin being "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez.

Yes,myiq2xu. It is worse than any of us thought.

Here we see Deadenders trying to handle the situation with humor. Who can blame them? The reality of the rape joke, and the laughter that followed, is beyond what most of us can even take in. (Can you imagine what would have happened if Letterman had said the same about Sasha or Malia?)

If you pop in at PUMA PAC you begin to see the larger issue. How a (well meaning?)president's speech can justify misogyny. Simply by the act of omission. Mr. Obama doesn't say it is OK to behead your wife. But, he doesn't say it is not OK, either. Just like he didn't speak out, but rather joked about it, when Bernie Mac called women "ho's."

Nor will Mr. Obama comment about David Letterman's sanction of statutory rape at a ball park.

To all of my PUMA friends, all who have supported Hillary, even if you do not support Sarah Palin for president:

David Letterman has jumped the proverbial shark. It is time for him to go. ALL decent women and men must stand up against this kind of woman hate. For the good of our daughters, and our country. I encourage all of you to follow the HILLBUZZ link above, and find out how to take action. They are dedicating a month to making old Dave's life miserable.

If you don't do it for Sarah, do it for Willow. Truth be told, she looks a lot like my own daughter. The thought of her being raped at a Ballpark turns my stomach.

Reactions to the Ms.Ogyny Are Varied

Around the Pumasphere I have found them to range from humorous, to angry, to scholarly. A few examples would be:
THE NEW AGENDA wonders if NOW will appoint John Edwards to replace Kim Gandy.

PUMA PAC is calling for a letter writing campaign to Ms. Magazine.

Now that the bar has been set so low, THE CONFLUENCE is seeing Feminists everywhere.

RIVERDAUGHTER would like us to remember what a REAL feminist looks like.

Yet again, at The Confluence, TAGGLES is reminded of an Andy Kaufman routine.

Some of the responses to my own musings on the subject have been enlightening as well. For instance, Lawmom (a Kentucky lawyer who works with victims of abuse) responded to my post at Team Sarah. She thought Ms. Magazine was spoofing itself. Seriously. She thought it was a joke. As if Ms. was saying "look what some nuts are calling Feminist."

Here on my blogspot, I was reminded by Kat In Your Hat, that Donna Brazile is on the editorial board at Ms. That does explain alot, now, doesn't it?

I'm sure there are places where the discussion leans more toward "Well, he is a feminist." But I don't frequent O-bot boards. So I'm not seeing those. My response, however, would be along the lines that HEIDI LI's is. "if a feminist looks like President-elect Obama then a feminist looks exactly like somebody who has done nothing, and I do mean nothing, to suggest that he will fight for increased social justice for women."

Or, maybe ... if I was a well spoken historian... I'd say something in the vein of what Anna Belle tells us at PEACOCKS AND LILLIES. "The idea of Barack Obama as Superfeminist is absurd and offensive, but it is also a trick. We’ve seen this kind of rehabilitation before. We saw it with Summers and Favreau, when articles that showed them a favorable light, especially articles by women began to emerge from various media outlets. This is also the same technique we’ve seen the Bush Administration use for eight long years now. Whenever a problem comes up, run it through your personal propaganda mill, the press, and change the narrative."

For me, yet again, it comes down to the sad realization that ... not only have women suffered tremendous abuses of power in the 2008 campaign season, but our own "mothers" have turned on us.

Ms. is corroborating with our abusers. And, that, my friends... is the worst kind of betrayal there is.

Team Sarah, The Confluence .... Astroturfing Thugs Play Where-ever ...

By now, many of you have read about the recent framing attempt at Team Sarah. You know, the way the Obots infiltrated the site in order to stir up sh** and make Team Sarah look bad. Thankfully, Team Sarah has been on top of that situation! Bill Collier acted quickly to inform us all not to engage the interlopers. Many of us have, since, been especially aware... in the chat room. And we've outed a few in the forum as well.

The same blogger boiz that mess with Team Sarah ... are messing with the Weblog Awards. Here is an example of what they are doing to sister PUMA site Confluence .

FACT: Operatives within the Democratic Party, with leadership by Axelrod and Dean, have developed a sophisticated system of "netroots" that "mess with" the blogosphere. They are taught how to "astroturf" as we have seen them do, time and again. They know how to rig polls, as was done with TIME's "Person of the Year." And is now being done with The Blogger Awards.

The point of my posting this is.... we need to stick together! It is not "Conservatives against Liberals anymore. It is a very small segment of the blogosphere that interferes with our important work ... to return democracy and order to our elections and governance. In the words of Bill Collier, "It is thugs against civilization."

We can all learn from each other... and, more importantly, we can defend one another from the astroturfing hi-jinx. Please visit the Weblog Awards page and boost *LEGITIMATE* blogs. Wonkette, obviously, is not one of them. As it is engaging astroturfers to falsely elevate it's numbers.
