We all agree that there is much to despise about Obama, and a whole different set of things to despise about the people who helped get him elected. Author, Sasha Gong, was harassed and repeatedly told how little she knew by poll workers from, guess where? The Democratic party. Her account of the bigotry she experienced Tuesday will enrage you!

She ends her article saying that her story "pretty much summarized the story of many in the TEA party."

It's been the story for us PUMAs as well, Dr. Gong. I guess we are in good company?!

Sorry to be so absent from the discussion of late, PUMAs. I am still reading your blogs. Really I am! I lurk nearly every day. Sometimes I even comment. But that's about all I can do for now.

The good news is that I have started a new paying job! It's not hard. But it's taking up much the time I would have spent researching and blogging. I'm also still busy with my other two, volunteer, positions. No time to formulate a cohesive position on what just happened in The House.

You see... because I am a nurse by education, HCR is my number one political issue. I knew Hillary could make the changes that we needed. And I want to hope for the best now. But I just don't trust the way the whole thing went down with the Obama administration. Patience. Time will tell, I guess.

Time *may* tell.

Byah and Mikulski Withdrawing? Angry PUMA Alert

Of course, The Daily PUMA is correct in saying:

"NOBODY resigns one day before the deadline when they are leading in the polls without an ulterior motive." And in reminding us of the shenanigans that went on in the Dem primaries, surrounding the Michigan vote.

Then Post-Partisan Examiner correctly nails the "ulterior motive" in Byah's case.

Seems angry PUMAs are a force to be reckoned with. Which brings out the rancor from Obama's troops. (Wah. Wah. We tried to warn them.)


Who is next? Rumors are that Barbara Mikulski will be the sixth incumbent Dem to bow out for 2010. (You may remember her as co-chair of Clinton's 2008 campaign.)


As the PUMA avalanche continues, Obama's supermajority further and further erodes.

When in Doubt, Back the Woman: Part Two

On the heels of the Coakley/ Brown upset in Massachusetts (which I am really not all the disappointed about) I want to say a few things about my own future voting strategy. It's an evolving strategy that I have developed over the last two years, as a PUMA and an Independent.

This kind of voting is new to me. In the past I have always, and I do mean ALWAYS, voted "D." (With the exception of a couple of Charterites on the Cincinnati City Council.) Never, before 2008, have I even *considered* voting for a Republican. But that's all changed, so now I need a new set of voting booth guidelines. You see, I really don't want to *ever* have to go to the polls and make a wrenching decision like the one my PUMA friends were forced to make in Massachusetts on Tuesday. Not without a set of guiding principles.

So here goes.... SYD's voting guidelines in a nutshell.

Principle One: When in doubt, back the woman.

The reason for this is simple. I pay taxes. I deserve representation. Period.

Please note that I did not say "always vote female." The reason is... I can imagine a scenario in which a stellar male that I adore emerges from the pack to run against a woman I don't much care for. Like, say... if my own dear son were running against Jean Schmidt, whom I often disagree with.

But, let's face it. There is a zippo zingo chance that I will ever know any male candidate well enough to erase any and all doubt. So the only way I am likely to be voting for a male politician in an upcoming election is... if he is running against another man. (Sorry fellas, but you have had your turn. And, quite frankly, you have done a lousy job of standing up for my rights.)

Principle Two: When two same gendered individuals run for the same office, do the best you can to select the one who agrees with you the most.

This is a little bit tougher. Because there are always going to be doubts about any candidate. And nobody is going to be on my side 100% of the time. But, generally speaking.... it is most likely that I will be voting for fiscal conservatives and social liberals in the future. If any party or individual moves toward a balanced budget while also supporting equal rights for all people ... they will certainly have my attention.


Principle Three: Vote for the track record.

So let's just say that we now have two same gendered pols who are both fiscally conservative and socially liberal. (Yeah right.) OK. Now how do I choose? Do I revert back to selecting the person who has the "D" behind her name, for old times sake? Or because I think her affiliation with a certain party matters?? NO!!! Now I look for the track record.

This kind of thinking would have been very helpful to social progressives in 2008, even if both Hillary and Barack were women. And even if they were spouting similar rhetoric. The one with the track record was, of course, Hillary Clinton. Had my former party-mates exercised any hint of good judgement at all... they would have backed her. And by now we'd have some realistic health care reform, as well as movement toward a balanced federal budget. We'd also have a President who has stood with social liberals in the past, and could be trusted to stand with us again.


There ya go. SYD's voting booth guidelines for 2009 and beyond. Take 'em or leave 'em.

Burn, Baby, Burn and Rise, Hillary, Rise (The Implosion of the Obamacrat Party and the Rise of the Phoenix.)

PUMA blogs this morning are picking up on a new hope! It's not the hopey-changey-kool-ade-bongy type of dope that the Obamacrat party shoved down our throats in 2008.

It has nothing to do with a hope based in empty rhetoric and back-sliding policies.

Because, just as Always For Hillary links to Heather Higgins:

"President Obama’s meetings at the Senate on Sunday, much like his visit to Copenhagen this week, are not indicators of inevitability; they are portents of panic. The reports coming out of the closed door, Democrats-only, meeting of internal divisions that are still irreconcilable, despite the high rhetoric of historic moment, only make the point more vividly: can you say 'desperation'?"

And Tennessee Guerilla Women bemoan the fact that it is our own Democratic party that has "Killed the Public Option."

The Confluence is on to the fact that the Clinton's have wrested a Massachusetts senatorship out of Kennedy-Obamacrat hands. Yes, Martha Coakley has triumphed over the preferred candidate of the Holy One and his minions.

Ms. Coakley took that special election by a bit of a landslide, according to The New Agenda which reported that as of 9:05 p.m., Coakley had 47% of the votes (Capuano 27%, Pugliuca 13%, Khazei 13%)

Why couldn't the Kennedy-Obamacrat party cram Capuana down the throats of the people of Massachusetts, you ask?

Well... there's this little matter of ongoing Race Baiting in the Obamacrat party. And the voter intimidation cover-up at the DOJ. Not to mention the the supreme distastefulness of Mr. Obama's minions in the press.

Somehow... the Obamacrat party has seriously misread the American people. Their little White House frat party is going up in flames.

My response?

"Burn, baby, burn. And Rise, Hillary, Rise."

Yesterday PUMAs Were "Conservatives." Today, We Are "Left Wing Fringe." All Cuz We Happen to Believe the Constitution Protects EVERYONE Equally.

Remember yesterday when so many of us PUMAs were being dismissed as "Closet Republicans" or "Conservatives" or "Right-Wing Nutjobs" and "Racists?" Because we happened to think that our votes for Hillary Clinton *should* have mattered....

Well, those days are OVER my friends. Today we are "Left Wing Fringe." This time because we happened to disagree with The Holy One about how quickly our nation should move forward on GLBT rights. No kidding. That is all it took for the Obamedia to change it's tune about our "disloyal" tendencies.

Here's a little rundown of what I consider to be some of the best of the PUMA reports from/ on yesterday's rally in D.C. Keep in mind that I do not get news from the MSM, except through these filters. So... my opinion may be a bit jaded.

As linked above.... Dissenting Justice. On the phenomena of Obama dissenters who used to be "Conservatives" now being labelled "Left Wing Fringe." Theme also echoed at Tennessee Guerilla Women.

It's an odd thing how stabs in the back like this one seem to irk PUMAs. Especially when they follow high falutin' blow jobs.

Yesterday, Not Your Sweetie covered the schadenfreude over at the Sullivan and Avrosis blogs. Cry us a river, boiz. Wah-wah. And next time you decide to choose a candie date, do a little research into his/her voting (and marching) history.

Many PUMAs reported on the Nobel Peace Prize farce over the weekend. As did the Log Cabin Republicans. Who can blame them? I have a few more things to say about that, myself. Probably tomorrow.

For today tho... I want to recognize the millions of Americans that are being discriminated against because of who they love. I think they deserve our support.... even if some of them did lose our respect during the 2008 Democratic Primaries.

Progressive Patriots Unite! PUMAs, Don't Back Down!!

Yesterday I wrote about what seems to me to be a mini-explosion of postings on the PUMA blogs. Today I'll talk about how the movement itself is evolving.

The PUMAsphere has been a spectacle to behold, of late. Cat fights breaking out all over. The faint of heart are defecting from our movement. I suspect that is not a bad thing. Wars of the sort we PUMAs are waging, simply cannot be won by the squeamish. Nor can our battle be seen through to victory by the short sighted.

At this critical juncture in the PUMA movement, I suggest we ponder them both. Extensively. (Read the comments too.) Then ask ourselves.... is it really all that great to imbibe the talking point elixer of the Left while rejecting that of the Right? How are they different? Or, are they, in reality, the same poison?

Over the course of our year as PUMAs have we not been equally "infiltrated" by Obots and Redstaters? Why are some of us so afraid of the latter, that we will abandon our cause if they show up to titillate us with shiny TPMs?

Quite frankly.... I believe the Obots are more dangerous to PUMAs. Cuz they are our *friends and family* in real life. And because they comfortably spout rhetoric that many of us can't even recognize as meaningless, manipulative talking point jibberish .... due to our own years of desensitization and indoctrination.

Final words...

*No one party has the corner on political truth or idiocy. If you believe that one party is always right, and another is always wrong ... you were not PUMA material to begin with.

*No one politician has all the answers. Not even Hillary. By the same token, no one politician is always wrong.... or "evil" .... or the Anti-Christ. They are just people, folks. Like you and me. Demonization of any one person, including Obama, is counterproductive to our cause. (And that goes for Palin as well.)

*Hang in there, PUMAs! If we are attracting the Wingnuts, we are making a difference. They know who we are. They know we have power.... And they want to get their grubby little hands on us. The PUMA movement has come of age! Pat yourself on the back, and...
